Publisher Description
This is an anthology of nineteen essays written by first-year students in Loyola College's WR100 Effective Writing course during Loyola's "Year of the City"-the 2006-2007 academic year. The essays were selected by students and faculty in the Department of Writing. The goal of the anthology is to introduce new students-and their parents-to Baltimore and to show readers how Baltimore is an integral part of the Loyola College experience. Essays cover topics-steamed crabs, art, poverty-as well as places-Faidley's, the Walter's Art Gallery, the American Visionary Art Museum-frequently associated with Baltimore from the perspective of a first-year college student new to the area.
