“Heart-pounding excitement...left me sitting on the edge of my seat.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author DEBBIE MACOMBER for Angel Falls
The river runs wild
Former Fish & Wildlife Officer Charlotte “Charlee” Tanner still carries the guilt of a tragic drowning accident that occurred on her watch. She hoped moving back home to the wilds of central Florida would provide a safe haven—until she learns the death was no accident, and she’s the intended target.
But no wilder than their passion
Tough and decisive, Lieutenant Hunter Boudreau loves his new job as a law enforcement officer with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. Charlee is his best friend, so when she comes under fire, he’s not letting her out of his sight until the killer is caught. But Charlee won’t sit by and let anyone else die for her.
As danger closes in and Charlee and Hunter’s attraction threatens to consume them, Charlee has to decide if she can trust Hunter. And to save Charlee, Hunter will have to trust her, too.
This contemporary romantic thriller, set in the wild state parks of central Florida, stumbles occasionally, but it's mostly charming, exciting, and thoughtful. A year ago, kayak tour leader Charlee Tanner couldn't save a teenage boy, JJ, from drowning. On the anniversary of JJ's death, someone fires on the tour she's leading and another teen nearly dies. Charlee quickly realizes she's the target, and the killer begins attacking people she loves to get to her. Charlee and her closest friend, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Lt. Hunter Boudreau, team up to find the killer, and along the way they discover romantic feelings for each other. The plot is brisk and gripping, if occasionally cluttered, and Charlie and Hunter's growing relationship is supportive and sexy in all the right ways. Both characters grapple with past traumas, and their healing processes are compassionately portrayed. Side characters and their motivations are often merely sketched out, sometimes in ways that lean hard on stereotypes of mental illness and disability. Nonetheless, the strong sense of place and thrilling action make this worth picking up.

From first paragraph to last. Hooked
Plan on reading in one setting. Hard to put down. Characters are realistic. Story is believable. Great job Ms Connie
Small town, sexy hero, feel-good romantic suspense!
BEYOND RISK is a delightful mixture of small-town romance, high-octane suspense, and breath-taking outdoor settings in the rivers and waterways of Florida. But what truly sets it apart is its focus on family and friendships. I loved the heroine's family, the Tanners. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she has some hunky sexy brothers who are wildlife officers. And it was so much fun seeing a heroine who could out shoot, out think, and out smart just about anyone--and could also bake a pretty mean cupcake. Charlee (Charlotte) is a real pistol and you'll find yourself rooting for her all the way when it seems like her whole world is collapsing around her. She proves how capable she is, over and over, and that she doesn't "need" a man to protect her. But gorgeous Hunter Boudreau, with his sexy cajun drawl, is still going to do everything he can to try to take care of the woman he's falling in love with. Mr. Yummy, as Charlee's best friend calls him, is the perfect match for fiesty Charlee. Sparks fly between these two and they learn to work together to figure out who is trying to kill Charlee and everyone she loves. I truly enjoyed the story. And unlike Charlee, who is determined to save herself, I'd let Hunter save me any time!
Florida Wildlife Warriors.
Another night she couldn’t sleep and ends up making cupcakes to take to the cafe.A year ago her life changed, from law enforcement, and now to pretend today was like all others. Hunter had come into her life six months ago becoming her best friend. Standing between her and the world, protecting her,and giving her the space to heal. Both trying to live with the regret, and guilt, and. the failure that had happened in their lives. She had a kayak tour to lead today. Brittany dropped her phone and dived into the water. Then a nightmare began, trying to get her out of the water, then a rapid fire of bullets began. Bullets struck, would they survive, only for murder to happened to one of them at the hospital. The threats, are they nightmares or real. This is a
fast action script, that keeps one guessing to the.end.. Was it simply a case of revenge from a year ago or more. The cast of characters and the family unity was good, description of them and jobs they held was good The protective feeling for Charlie I liked. I have read the author’s other books and this is another winner .Given ARC by Net Galley and Sourcebooks for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
