Author Connie Mann delivers clean romance with a side of intrigue and suspense the likes of which you've never seen. Florida's untamed wilderness beckons with its beauty and mystery, but this paradise has a dark side that's waiting for you to step off the path…
Former Florida Fish & Wildlife Officer Charlotte "Charlee" Tanner still carries the guilt of a tragic drowning accident that occurred on her watch. She hoped moving back home to central Florida would provide a safe haven—until she learns that her beloved wilderness is full of twisted lies and deadly secrets, including the fact that the death that's haunted her was no accident…and she was the intended target.
Tough and decisive, Lieutenant Hunter Boudreau has just been promoted as a law enforcement officer with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, though not everyone on the force is happy about the change. Despite the friction at work, Charlee is his best friend, so when she comes under fire, he's not letting her out of his sight until the killer is caught. But Hunter has secrets of his own, and Charlee is determined not to let anyone else die for her.
As danger closes in and Charlee and Hunter's attraction threatens to consume them, Charlee has to decide whether she can trust Hunter. And to save Charlee, Hunter will have to trust her, too.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This contemporary romantic thriller, set in the wild state parks of central Florida, stumbles occasionally, but it's mostly charming, exciting, and thoughtful. A year ago, kayak tour leader Charlee Tanner couldn't save a teenage boy, JJ, from drowning. On the anniversary of JJ's death, someone fires on the tour she's leading and another teen nearly dies. Charlee quickly realizes she's the target, and the killer begins attacking people she loves to get to her. Charlee and her closest friend, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Lt. Hunter Boudreau, team up to find the killer, and along the way they discover romantic feelings for each other. The plot is brisk and gripping, if occasionally cluttered, and Charlie and Hunter's growing relationship is supportive and sexy in all the right ways. Both characters grapple with past traumas, and their healing processes are compassionately portrayed. Side characters and their motivations are often merely sketched out, sometimes in ways that lean hard on stereotypes of mental illness and disability. Nonetheless, the strong sense of place and thrilling action make this worth picking up.

Awesome
I love romantic suspense books and this one did not disappoint.
Delilah is a monkey researcher, completing a research paper, while trying to find her sister. She keeps coming into contact with Josh, a Fish and Wildlife officer. You can definitely feel the sparks flying even though neither want to admit it.
Suspense was everywhere in this book. There were a few times that I wanted to reach in and smack Delilah , but overall this was a good book. I loved the added monkey facts.
Beyond Risk
From first paragraph to last. Hooked
Plan on reading in one setting. Hard to put down. Characters are realistic. Story is believable. Great job Ms Connie
Small town, sexy hero, feel-good romantic suspense!
BEYOND RISK is a delightful mixture of small-town romance, high-octane suspense, and breath-taking outdoor settings in the rivers and waterways of Florida. But what truly sets it apart is its focus on family and friendships. I loved the heroine's family, the Tanners. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she has some hunky sexy brothers who are wildlife officers. And it was so much fun seeing a heroine who could out shoot, out think, and out smart just about anyone--and could also bake a pretty mean cupcake. Charlee (Charlotte) is a real pistol and you'll find yourself rooting for her all the way when it seems like her whole world is collapsing around her. She proves how capable she is, over and over, and that she doesn't "need" a man to protect her. But gorgeous Hunter Boudreau, with his sexy cajun drawl, is still going to do everything he can to try to take care of the woman he's falling in love with. Mr. Yummy, as Charlee's best friend calls him, is the perfect match for fiesty Charlee. Sparks fly between these two and they learn to work together to figure out who is trying to kill Charlee and everyone she loves. I truly enjoyed the story. And unlike Charlee, who is determined to save herself, I'd let Hunter save me any time!
