Life’s a witch, and then you fly.
Romy Larson
The tequila made me do it—throw caution to the wind to take a DNA test. Now I know why “who’s your daddy” is a dangerous question. Dad’s a witch, with a whole magical family I knew nothing about.
Discovering I have magic isn’t the only shock (though it explains a lot). There’s a familiar face among the noisy, joyful Candler clan. A fostered son named Trace—the only other time in my play-it-safe life I did something crazy. A night of madcap fun and sizzling kisses.
Trace Holcomb
For years, I’ve been trying in vain to find a spell to bring my family back after they died. I’ve given up on magic. What good is it if I can’t do the one thing I want so much?
I mistook Romy for my blind date, and it was the best mistake I ever made. Or maybe it’s the worst. When the other shoe—more like the hammer—drops, I learn she’s part of the Candler family, who opened their big hearts to me when my family died.
Now it’s up to me to run Romy through a crash course in remedial magic before she loses it forever. That’s the last thing I want to do. As the smoke clears from her first disastrous spells, something else becomes clearer. Our attraction wasn’t a fluke. And she could be the key to making my impossible dream come true…

I’m gushing!
Ahhh, I’m gushing over this!! It was quirky and fun, but with so much depth too. You just can’t help but fall in love with this! Romy and Trace were such a perfect match, they matched when they weren’t even meant to (you’ll see 😉) Their paths lead them back to each other time and again, and I was here for all of it!! I loved this book! My first time read by this author, but I definitely want more!
Interesting!
The concept for this book was interesting, not something that I normally would have gone for, but it did exceed my expectations. Romy and Trace’s first meeting was a random, accidental date. Little did they know how much they had in common. From friends and family to their powers. It was fun reading about Romy’s first practicing her her emerging powers. All in all, it was a fun, entertaining read.
3.5 Stars!
I loved the concept of this story. Romy recently lost her mom and only family member. Feeling alone and wanting to see if she can find her father who she never met, she takes a DNA test. When the DNA results come up with a possible family member, she soon learns there is a whole new world out there that she never knew of. Which is what intrigued me about this book. I enjoyed Romy and her discovery and learning of how to be a witch. This also has some great side characters from her two best friends to her new witch family. I even like the hero, Trace. For me, I did struggle with his "I don't do relationship" attitude. I know there is always a deeper reason when author create hero's like this and sometimes I can get past it and some times I can't. This happens to be one of those time I wish he didn't use that as an excuse to keep Romy at a distance. Overall, it was still a fun read.
