Simple and Effective
There are so many different programs out there that "guarantee" results, and each one has it's own pitch/take on the best/fastest/easiest way to reach your goals, but for me none of them worked long-term. I would get into the program, not see gains, and slowly fall off the wagon.
I stumbled upon Michael's "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" and thought I'd give it a try. The first thing I noticed was how simple and basic the program was. Almost seemed too good to be true, but so often the simpler something is the better it works. I was surprised to see fat literally fall off me (I lost 20lbs of fat in under 2 months) and muscle mass build up faster than I had ever seen it. Even my friends were noticing how quickly my body started to transform.
I work out 5 days a week and am in the gym only about an hour. My diet is much less strict than so many other diets I've done in conjunction with workout programs, and my strength and muscle mass just keeps going up. This program passes the acid-test for me, it just works. Finally something that gets results. I would have paid so much more to have this program years ago, just glad I finally found it.

This is an amazingly awesome book. No empty promises, no magical cures, and no BS! Just the easy simple facts. And Mike Matthews is an author that genuinely cares about his readers and their success! Totally worth adding to your collection!
Keep it simple and get the help you need
Several of the reviews here were written with the Bigger Leaner Stronger plan well under way. And that's the best way to review anything that demands action from the reader. However, I'm still a chapter away from completion and haven't started the plan yet.
What I can say is that not only is the exercise and diet regimen logical and easy to understand but the author, Michael Matthews, appears to be a good guy who does his best to help his readers. I've already communicated with him over Twitter and once through email. I had a question about doing presses to failure and he responded quickly and thoroughly—which is something you don't expect from some other popular fitness authors now on the market.
It's not a particularly long book but then lifting doesn't need to be made overly complicated either—really, it's pretty straightforward and Matthews shows you how it is. But if you want more explanation (I'll be buying his The Shredded Chef to get more tips on diet) happily, as of this writing, his other books are only four or five dollars.
