Biodiversity

A Compilation of Student Articles on the Causes, Impacts and Preservation of Biodiversity

Publisher Description

Stewardship is a big idea at Havergal College and during the grade 6 science unit, students studied the human impact on biodiversity and our need to preserve it. With this goal in mind, students researched the historical land use at Havergal College, studied the human-made and natural areas of the school’s property using archival information both online and from Havergal College’s own archives. The articles in this book are general and discuss biodiversity beyond the school’s grounds.  However, we also have 22 wonderful acres to learn in and about and with the help of a former school parent with a vast knowledge of the property, students were able to interview and discuss the school’s woodlands for an enriching learning experience.
