Birds & Other Dreamers: Poems

I will say first off that poetry is not my main thing, in terms of books I prefer. This was good, though. Lots of poems about love and lots of vivid imagery. If you were to pick this up, you might think that is is mostly about birds. While there were a few poems that mention birds, the vast majority did not. Most of the poems were about love. And truly, much of life is, as well. People who like poetry are apt to like this. People who don’t like poetry might say, “This is poetry?” (But they may like it, as well).

I love poetry, but I don’t often read it as much as I used to. So I was happy to read this poetry book by an author I follow that usually writes other genres like science fiction/thriller/fantasy.
These poems evoked a myriad of emotions that only good poetry can elicit from the reader. Some were funny, moving, and thought provoking. Others were very relatable such as a devoted dog anxiously awaiting the arrival of one of their owners from work, or the all too common picking up items left by a messy spouse. Then there were many that expressed love such as finding “the one” or adventures together.
This was such an enjoyable and emotional read. Highly recommended for poetry lovers and others who want to be moved by good writing.
