Poetry is many things to many people, perhaps a glimpse into the writer's life, soul, or heart or an inspiration to create and share our own intimate feelings, thoughts, and experiences with those around us as well as with our own selves.

It is the latter desire Suzanne Carr seeks to fulfill through her words in Bite Down Hard on This. Covering a variety of themes and moods, from identity and personality to the changing nature of society and familial relationships, Ms. Carr wishes to inspire young girls in particular to express themselves through language and to aim for lofty goals. "Although," she says, "anyone can get something they might need from my work, I think women especially will appreciate the sentiments."
