Black Butterfly

“Black Butterfly: The Journey – The Victory,” is a compilation of poetry that reflects on the journey of a young girl and obstacles faced, pre and post, foster-care placement. Transition is reflected through numerous challenges. Some challenges speak to the ability to adapt to new surroundings, to bond with new parents and siblings, to adjust to new school settings, to fit in, to have purpose, and more! This compilation speaks to a young girl, as compared to a caterpillar within a cocoon, struggling to break free. How long will she remain a caterpillar? Where is her array of colors; i.e., her true identity? When will transformation take place? Where is the splendor of the butterfly?
