“Gripping. . . . For readers interested in the roots of the Islamic State and the evil genius of its godfather, there is no better book to begin with than Black Flags.” —Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times
Drawing on unique high-level access to CIA and Jordanian sources, Warrick weaves gripping, moment-by-moment operational details with the perspectives of diplomats and spies, generals and heads of state, many of whom foresaw a menace worse than al Qaeda and tried desperately to stop it. Great Read
Excellent read on the back story and rise of ISIS. The book had great momentum and never felt like it was dragging on. Even when getting into the technical information that you needed to understand in order to follow the story. Great book, great author. Well done.
Excellent
There are going to be superlative reviews of this book by people that are more focused on the topic than I; what I want to praise this book is simply the maps that were scanned at a high resolution so that you could read them. I wish this were the case with other ebooks.
