Publisher Description

Blender 5.2 LTS from Zero to Render: Modeling and Animation Step-by-Step is a complete introductory textbook for students with no prior experience in 3D graphics or animation. Written by a Professor of Computer Science, this book guides complete beginners from their first Blender launch to a published video showreel across twenty chapters and five progressive parts.

Every chapter follows the same four-pillar structure: Lecture Notes that explain the concept before the software, a Guided Walkthrough with numbered steps and expected results, an independent Studio Project completed, and a Mastery Checkpoint that confirms readiness before the next chapter. Every chapter produces a real rendered output the student keeps.

Coverage includes hard-surface modeling, organic sculpting, physically-based materials using the Shader Editor, three-point lighting, Cycles and EEVEE rendering, keyframe animation, the Graph Editor, camera path constraints, particle rain, Mantaflow fire and smoke simulation, and video editing in the Video Sequence Editor. The twelve principles of animation are taught before any software instruction. A complete keyboard shortcut reference covers all Blender contexts.

Written for Blender 5.2 LTS - the Long-Term Support release stable through July 2028. Free and open-source software. No prior knowledge of Blender, 3D, or animation required.

Suitable for introductory university courses in 3D modeling, computer animation, game design, and digital media. Lecture slides and curriculum resources available at aymanalzaid.com.

Every chapter includes color-coded callout boxes for tips, notes, cautions, and version-specific features, numbered step rows, and keyboard shortcut tables at the point of need. The visual structure is consistent across key chapters so readers always know where they are and what comes next.

Where it matters most, step-by-step screenshots show exactly what your Blender viewport should look like at each stage -- so you can self-correct without guessing.
