From Emma Hart, the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series, comes a brand new series where the game is realer, the tension is tighter, the sex is hotter, and the stakes are the highest of all…
Two people. Two agendas. Two games.
What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion?
As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.
The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place.
Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.
If only it was that simple.
When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray.
And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.
A beautifully blinding romance
Emma Hart has found a way for me to actually like football.. Okay, well more accurately a football player.
Corey Jackson had me swooning through the roof. At first he definitely came off as a typical man-slut; cocky, arrogant almost to the point of annoyance. Though Corey begins to show his true colors the more time he spent with Leah. His determination to have her was sexy beyond belief. He had to have her with a passion that transcended just wanting in her pants. It was so adorable to witness the back and forth banter that ranged from argumentative to flirtatious. They really complemented each other with their similar tastes and personalities.
Their relationship was the kind that slowly built up and snuck up on them out of the blue.
Leah was someone I could be best friends with. She’s so normal despite her celebrity status. She’s extremely humble and I think that was what I loved most about her. Her need to prove herself on her own terms, without the help of her fame-attached surname. I enjoyed seeing her feistiness when Corey was near, but her resistance towards him was exhausting. I don’t know how she was able to hold out on him for so long. She was quite stubborn at times and jumped to conclusions way too fast, but it was all understandable and tolerable.
Like usual, I began to love the supporting characters as well. Already I was beginning to match up everyone and wonder what their story would entail. All the while, I was still somehow enraptured by Corey and Leah’s blossoming love.
Blindsided had great laughs, steamy love scenes (like seriously turn up that AC), frustrating moments, and some sob-filled words. Beautifully balanced with every emotion, every step of the way.
Another story and yet another couple created from Emma’s mind has taken up room in my heart. Again I’m so very impressed with Emma’s writing and how effortlessly she fabricates these modernized fairy tale love stories.
I highly recommend this book and every other book from Emma Hart’s collection.
Review: By His Game #1: Blindsided
Blindsided by Emma Hart is the first book in her By His Game series. It is a Contemporary sports romance with a focus on football. More specifically, one really perfectly hot football player Corey Jackson and the daughter of Hollywood's sweetheart, none other than Leah veronica.
Leah is supportive of her mother and attends functions when needed but for the most part stays out of the limelight and the paps crazy feeding frenzy of the celeb's private lives. She has a reason. A very specific goal she has been headed towards since she was 16. She is a fashion designer with a debut at New York's Fashion week and has managed to remain anonymous from all but four people while putting the show together and designing the clothes. The people that know... Her boss Quinn, her mother, her aunt and herself. With their help, and on her own merit and not her mother's fame, she is eagerly anticipating the fashion debut. Everything is going very smoothly, until Corey appears in her life to test her.
Corey Jackson is a serial dater. He spots Leah's beauty at a club and heads over to hit on her. After being unceremoniously shot down he's much more than attracted to a beautiful woman. Now he's intrigued and much like the lovable Barney Stinson he decides her challenge is accepted. He relentlessly pursues her and with her mother and aunt's help manages to get more facetime with her. Unfortunately all he can seem to do is tick her off. Except, of course, when he's kissing her.
I always seem to shy away from sports romance novels. Not sure why, every one I've read so far I've either really liked or loved. But that tick of hesitation is always there. Emma didn't disappoint. This was another great book. from her and for the sports romance field in general. After having read Dirty Secret and being blown away I couldn't say no to another opportunity to review her work. So NOT disappointed. Can't wait for book 2, Sidelined.
