Blood & Bone Marrow

The Veterinary Microscopic Anatomy Review series is a 21-volume set of interactive eBooks to allow a Q&A type review of microscopic anatomy structure and function. The histological sections are taken from multiple domestic species, including the canine, feline, bovine and equine.

In this unit of the series, blood smears from a dog, cat, horse, ox, llama and a bird are studied. Leukocytes and their roll in inflammation are considered, variation in erythrocyte morphology are examined, and platelet and thrombocyte identification and function are reviewed. Bone marrow sections and smears are used to identify structures in the marrow, as well as cells from the erythroid and granulocytic series.
