Not bad
If I don’t at least like a book, I won’t finish it. I finished this one and although I did enjoy it my takeaway is this:
The good:
The author’s prose was decent. I’ve read many that were tolerable at best and when I experience moments where I’m really swept up into the story and I feel like I’m there, I have a much higher appreciation for the author and the book.
The story wasn’t unique in a way that I never would have thought of this, but I was definitely pleased with the way it played out and the twist ending.
The romance scenes were sweet and sexy.
The bad:
The entire story was contained in the course of like three days and I felt like a lot of the story was missing.
The main character was supposed to have trust issues and she did...for like ten minutes. Literally twelve hours into the story she’s already snuggling up to the vampire who is also supposed to have trust issues and hate her. Almost immediately they’ve already got sexual tension going and there was zero buildup.
I felt like most of the story was actually sex scenes and it focused very little on character development or the development of the story. As I said, the entire story was over the course of somewhere in the neighborhood of 72 hours and it seemed like this should have been over the course of several weeks if not more.
