A recent divorcee finally faces the consequences of having denied her destiny, following her heart to her blissful second chance in this mature standalone love story by USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson.
When Blythe Heywood left Finn Lanigan behind thirteen years ago, she was choosing a life of safety and security over true love. Little did she know how unfulfilled she’d be by the things she’d yearned for since she was a child.
Now, in the wake of her husband’s betrayal, Blythe will begin again -- this time in the foothills of Blue Mountain, where her memories of the only man who ever weakened her knees will lead her -- and finally take to heart that sometimes the road not taken is actually the path that is meant to be.
The first book in the Blue Mountain Series will have readers cheering for a set of lovable, complex characters as they explore the painful truths involved in accepting second chances and learning to love after loss.
Well *light spoilers*
The writing and description of this story was lovely. The weariness of these characters was felt strongly. I love second chances and people finding their way to love and happiness at all ages. But I just can’t get over the ache in my chest for Finn. Kevan was wonderful, but poor Finn had a life of feeling unworthy of his family, and longing for a woman he’d never get to love. I wish this story had truly been Finns. He deserved more, he deserved a soul bearing love.
Usually these types of stories leave me feeling complete, and satisfied but this one while beautiful, left me feeling sad and aching for something that’ll never come. It felt unfinished, but I’m sure that was solely because while this story was introduced and marketed as Blythe and Finns story, it never really was.
Slow starting but well worth it.....we’ll written, heart warming, insightful, loving ❤️
I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the rest of the series. A sweet story of long ago love and the mystery of finding Finn. And new love brings a happy ending.
