About the Author

Adrianna Rangel:
Adrianna Rangel is an Orange County, California "native." She was born in Los Angeles County and moved when she was four years old. She received her Bachelor's degree in English and Philosophy from California State University, Fullerton, and her Master's degree in Legal Studies from the University of Illinois, Springfield.
Adrianna found a love for writing and journaling when she was eleven years old. However, when she started high school in 2006, her passion for books and poetry exploded. She could read a novel or a poem and become so involved; she would forget what characters were and which existed in real life. This was one of the first signs of her personality disorder.

Halfway through her freshman year, she discovered Ellen Hopkins and her “poetry” / prose novels. She absolutely fell in love with them. She could read Hopkins’ books and feel warmth. She felt as if she belonged. Because of this, Adrianna’s writing now has strong influences from Hopkins’ real topics, formatting, and style.

Adrianna also has a love for Philosophy. Because of this, there are philosophical themes and hidden messages in the poems. She used her knowledge and education to carefully format and create poems within poems. Some of her writings can be read backward; some can be read from bottom to top, and some can even be read by certain emphasized words.
Lisha Sofia Zamora Soni:
Lisha Sofia Zamora Soni is an Instagram artist based out of Mexico. She has been drawing for a little over ten years. She drew for fun when she was a kid, but it became a scapegoat as she grew older. She needed to get jumbled thoughts out of her mind. She says, “As someone who hasn’t had it as hard as others but still got a taste of what it’s like to live in a constant fight against your mind, I felt the need to clear some terrible misconceptions about mental illnesses. With that, my art became something more than just expressing what was going on in my mind, but also to untangle some of the mess that was going on in others.”
Shawn Coss:
Shawn Coss is a professional artist and entertainer based in Akron, Ohio. Shawn is best known for his mental illness series called Inktober Illness, which he has used to help raise awareness about mental health stigmas. Shawn is also the co-owner and artist for Any Means Necessary clothing lifestyle brand. Additionally, Shawn is an artist for the popular webcomic, Cyanide, and Happiness. Shawn’s style of humor and unconventional way of connecting with his fans personally sets him apart from most other social media influencers.
