#1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jackson returns to the merciless winters of Grizzly Falls, Montana, pitting two of her most fascinating characters—detectives and friends Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli—against a serial killer with his sights set on a beautiful Montana doctor . . .
The resemblance between Dr. Kacey Lambert and B-movie actress Shelly Bonaventure is a standing joke in the town of Grizzly Falls, Montana. So much so, that Kacey is momentarily shocked to read about the fading starlet’s death. Still, it’s not as if there was any real connection between them. And when a fatally injured jogger who also bears a striking similarity to Kacey is rushed into the ER days later, she rules it another sad, strange accident. But Detective Selena Alvarez suspects otherwise.
An autopsy confirms that the jogger had traces of poison in her blood at the time of her death. Selena and her partner, Regan Pescoli, can find no motive for the murder. Yet Kacey has started to notice ties between the dead women’s lives and her own—all close in age, born within miles of each other—and all with links to Trace O’Halleran, the man she’s just begun dating. Now Kacey must question her judgment, her safety—and everything she’s ever believed about her past.
The deeper Kacey digs, the more reason she has to fear. The body count is rising, the killer is getting bolder and more brutal. And Kacey knows it’s only a matter of time before hers is the next name on a list of those who were born to die . . .
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In bestseller Jackson's exciting third thriller to feature Det. Selena Alvarez and Det. Regan Pescoli (after Chosen to Die), the two Grizzly Falls, Mont., cops look into the suspicious fall of schoolteacher Jocelyn Wallis onto a rocky ledge. Jocelyn, who later dies in the hospital of her injuries, turns out to bear an uncanny resemblance to Hollywood actress Shelly Bonaventure, whose recent death from a pill overdose was officially ruled a suicide, though the police suspect foul play. When Kacey Lambert, a doctor who coincidentally resembles Jocelyn and Shelly, reports that her home has been bugged, Alvarez and Pescoli step up their investigation before Kacey becomes the next victim. Jackson skillfully interweaves the suspense surrounding the look-alike women with the romance that develops between Kacey and local rancher Trace O'Halleran. Deft characterizations, in particular the strong female leads, and a well-crafted plot compensate for some seriously clich d prose ("Evil glinted in the eyes she'd found so intriguing just hours before").

Born to die
A very good book, well structured and a good climax, couldn't put it down. You never know who the killer is until, you read the last page. Good book, made her one of my favorites
