Publisher Description
The inspirational story of Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia—a giant talent in a small package—who defied his critics to become one of the greatest players in the game today.
Dustin Pedroia, at five feet seven inches and 170 pounds, is not the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest player in the game of baseball, but in just two years of major-league play he was named Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and helped the Boston Red Sox win a World Championship. At a time when steroid scandals dominate media coverage of America’s beloved pastime, Pedroia has proven to the world that a good baseball player is more than size and statistics. His success comes from the heart.
In Born to Play, Pedroia shares the story of his difficult and uplifting journey to prove himself at every turn. More than anything, his love of the game and desire to win, not just for himself but for his teammates, defines Pedroia as an athlete—but his dedication, his perseverance, and of course, his monster swing have made him a beloved new symbol of baseball and offer hope for the future of America’s favorite game.

I play ball
My dream is allways to be just like Dustin he has always inspired me to do my best be my best and never give up
GREAT
I am a 14 year old boy 5'1" (short), huge Pedrioa fan, and love baseball. This book is inspiring and has helped me through all those slumps that baseball players go through. I could go on and on about how helpful it is. I am short, like Pedroia is, and I would definitely recommend this book to anybody is small for your age. He has that play big mentality, and balls out mind set that is helpful to anybody. I would also recommend this if you play any sport.(except lax that takes no skill) Even if you play ping pong you should read this. It's very funny, but there is several cuss words per page in some cases.
- GO PEDEY!!!!!

I have been to red sox games and seen pedroia. His heart that he puts into his game is obvious from the start. Love this guy. Btw, I'm a competitive 14 year old SS at almost 4' 11" (very short).
