Botticelli

Sandro Botticelli was a Florentine painter during the early Italian Renaissance period. He was an apprentice of the master painter Fra Filippo Lippi and a painter for the Medici family. His most well-known painting is The Birth of Venus, featured in this biography. The large painting depicts the Roman goddess Venus rising up from the sea. It was painted in 1486 for the Medici family.
