Bound to the Pillar

Bound to the Pillar is a poignant story of debt, public humiliation, and redemption set in rural Bangladesh.

When Anik's father falls gravely ill, medical bills consume their land and savings, leaving the family in debt before his father passes away. Crushed by grief and financial ruin, Anik falls into drug addiction, pulling away from his supportive wife, Jannatul, and his nine-year-old daughter, Tuba.

One night, Anik is falsely accused of theft at the local market, beaten, and tied to an iron pillar by a mob. Learning of his capture, Tuba brings him bread and tea, feeding him bound before the crowd. A video of her gesture goes viral, prompting local police to intervene and inspiring a charitable organization to donate an auto-van for Anik and sponsor Tuba's education. Driven by his daughter's love, Anik overcomes his addiction and works through public stigma to rebuild his life step by step.
