Brave Like David

Goliath was real, and he was really frightening. But David kept his focus where it belongs: not on how big the giant was, but on how big God is. Brave Like David is the true story of David and Goliath, told straight from 1 Samuel 17 and written to be read aloud, one five-minute chapter at a time. Your child will walk with David from the shepherd's field to the battlefield — the giant problem, the ill-fitting armor, the five smooth stones, the flying stone, and the mighty declaration, "The battle is the LORD's" (1 Samuel 17:47). Every chapter ends with a small "do" or a short "pray" so the story moves from David's life into your child's life. And when your child names their own giants — the dark hallway, the first day of school, the kid who is unkind — take them seriously. A giant is anything that feels too big for us and just the right size for God. Ages 6–12.
