Tracey Alvarez has a new book out and this should come as no surprise, but it's another must buy! Each book in Ms. Alvarez's Bounty Bay series is a wonderful read! It's a stand-alone but I vote to read the whole series so you can get the great backstories for the characters you meet.
Sam and Vee have known each other for a while, though not romantically. But when Sam needs a fake girlfriend / almost fiancee to secure a business deal he turns to Vee for help. While it's supposed to be a bit more low-key it turns out that all of a sudden he has a ready made family with adorable little Ruby too. (Vee's daughter, Ruby, adds the perfect amount of little kid cuteness btw).
Sam's sister, who was best friends with Vee when they were going up, provided the connection that Vee needed to develop a crush at 12 but that doesn't mean Vee is ready to do whatever Sam wants! They both struggle to figure out exactly what is going on in their head/heart/elsewhere in order to find out where their future will take them. Throw in some plot twists from the potential business partners, and you have a great read.
I think this after ever one of Ms. Alvarez's books, but can I please just go to New Zealand asap?? I love the Maori glossary and little glimpses into life in New Zealand! I would definitely recommend both this book and then the whole series, and the Stewart Island series too!
I received an ARC of this book but that had no bearing on this review!
A must read
I give Break Your Heart by Tracey Alvarez five stars. This is book five of the Bounty Bay series and can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend starting with book one and reading them in order but that is because all the books are amazing AND because characters from the other four books will make appearances in this book. This is a very well written book and a very quick read with a HEA. If you like Childhood crush to lovers books you will love this book.
Sam Ngata is amazing with his wood working and creating things out of it and has his business, Kauri Whare, to prove it. The one talent he does not have is keeping a long term girl friend. When he implies to an over seas investor that he has a steady girl friend he needs a miracle to produce one out of thin air. The investor is due to arrive in ten days and now he is stuck trying to talk someone into being his fake girl friend for the time the investors are in town.
Lee Sullivan is a single mom to an adorable little girl. The last thing she wants in her life is a man. Her main goal in life is to grow her clothing business enough so she can move into the new retail space located next to Kauri Whare. The problem is it is going to take a small miracle for her to be able to afford to lease that space. So when Sam offers her a deal of a life time just to be his fake girl friend for a week she is tempted to jump at it. The big problem is that Vee is afraid the fake will turn real and she doesn't want someone to get their heart broken.
This book did not have any violence in it. There is some sexual content but it was very well written and HAF. Tracey has an amazing writing style and I highly recommend her books.
I couldn’t put it down!
This amazing book 5 in the Bounty Bay series features Sam and Vee. Sam is a Ngata brother and delicious in his own right. He’s also a self-proclaimed bachelor, that for business purposes only, needs a serious, “fake”, live-in girlfriend and only Vee will do. Vee is a strong woman raising her two-year-old daughter on her own. You know when you’re kids and the boys tease the girls, not to be mean but because they really like them? Yeah, that’s what these two have been like since they were kids.
Each time I start a book by this author I am immediately transported to the little town where it all takes place. I am mesmerized and totally engrossed in the words, the characters and the romance. There is a specific section of this book when a car accident takes place and we are then shown the true sight and emotion of love. It was sad and beautiful at the same time and I cried. It felt so real. BRAVO Tracey Alvarez for making me feel more than just an awesome HEA.
