Publisher Description

In a standalone hockey romance that tugs at readers’ heartstrings, a broken ex-pro learns to live and love again—all thanks to the complicated, wonderful nurse who gives him a second chance.

Brianna Collins needs to break away from her overbearing family. Her parents expect her to “fix” her brother after a series of concussions derailed his hockey career. Unfortunately, no doctor will give him clearance to play, and she’s finished with being the person they rely on to perform a miracle that will never happen. For Bree, a six-month nursing assignment at a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, is the perfect escape.

Luke Daniels, former forward for the NHL’s Charlotte Aviators, has spent close to a year rehabbing a career-threatening injury—and distracting himself however he can. Worlds collide when Luke realizes that the girl from his latest one-night-stand happens to be the new nurse at the hospital where he volunteers in the pediatric unit. What’s more, Bree’s the only person who makes him excited about life again.

Despite her initial reservations, Luke can’t help pursuing sweet, beautiful Bree. Then he falls back on the thing that’s always helped suppress his demons: alcohol. But if Luke doesn’t kick his old habits, he just may lose the one thing he loves more than hockey.

Fun, Sexy & Heart Wrenching Love Story!

I loved this book! There is so much going on for both Bree and Luke. Their pasts and their futures are on an intersecting path and Luke struggles. Bree is such a grounding force for him and she can’t help herself from falling for this sweet, sensitive man. Luke is everything she has wanted but she keeps her hand up guarding her heart reminding Luke this is only a temporary assignment for her.

Bree is only in Charlotte for six months and isn’t looking for a long-term romance. She just wants to hook up with no strings attached. Bree is a very upfront woman and she knows what she wants. She blows Luke away with her openness both sexually and emotionally. She works as a pediatric nurse working with cancer patients. Her job is both rewarding and heart wrenching and she grows to really like her temporary assignment in Charlotte. She has also gotten attached to Luke.

Luke is a volunteer at the hospital and he is invested as there is a very special patient there. And a special nurse that he has fallen for. Luke is at a crossroad in his life and he has to come to grips with accepting his fate with his career threatening injury. Luke and Bree both lean on each other and feelings intensify. Their chemistry is off the charts and they can’t deny that what they feel is special, but can they figure out what their future holds? You will have to read the book to find out.

This is such a fun, sexy and heart wrenching love story. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic

Fantastic read! It's heartwarming, fun, and sexy. A great read for a little escape and entertainment.
Brianna Collins and Luke Daniels are great characters and their chemistry jumps from the pages.

Brianna is trying to get out from under the pressure of her family. On a temporary nursing assignment in Charlotte. She meets Luke Daniels and their attraction is immediate. He seems like the perfect short term stress reliever! Charlotte just might be Luke's perfect woman. No strings with a time limit - perfect!! A great distraction while he tries to get back on the ice.

Definitely a book I recommend to everyone.

I absolutely loved this book by Sophia Henry. This is a great series, but you don't have to read all of the books to before to follow along but it is nice to. Bree is a nurse that wants to get away from her troubles at home so she takes a job in North Carolina. Luke Daniels is a player for the NHL team the aviators and he was injured and has been rehabbing and hoping to get back in the ice but he learns that it is a career ending injury. These two are great together and seeing how they make each other grow and learn to move on. This is one of my foavirites of this series.
