Publisher Description
Best known as the author of Winesburg, Ohio, Sherwood Anderson made his decision to become a writer after two failures in the local manufacturing industry in the early 1900s. Schuck discovered a detailed account of these business failures and the rest of Anderson’s time in Northeast Ohio in Kim Townsend’s 1987 biography Sherwood Anderson. Because this valuable documentation of local history may become lost (Townsend’s book is now out of print), Schuck has adapted Townsend’s chapter about Anderson’s time in Northeast Ohio for publication as a stand-alone volume. Mr. Townsend graciously provided written permission supporting this adaptation. Schuck is a freelance writer based in Columbus, Ohio, and director of the Sherwood Anderson Literary Center at sherwoodanderson.net.
