Before Mac McDaniels was a Special Forces Delta operative, he was in love with Kylie. But Kylie had dreams of becoming a war correspondent, so she dumps Mac to pursue her dreams.
Fast forward several years...Kylie finds herself in a foreign country following a Ranger team’s extraction of a former Taliban member. He has information on the whereabouts of a powerful Taliban leader, but before they extract him, they are bombed and sent running. The Sergeant assigned to protect Kylie and her cameraman is shot, so she picks up a gun to defend the group and ends up killing the Taliban leader’s brother. Then in rushes a blast from the past to save Kylie’s life, Mac. Kylie can’t believe her eyes and although this isn’t the best time for a second chance at love, that’s all she can think of. With a hit out on Kylie’s life, Mac and his team are assigned to protect her until they can get her stateside.
HOLY SMOKES! The action, suspense, and passion....I could NOT put this book down. I wanted to find out if Mac and Kylie would get their second chance or be captured by the Taliban. Kylie and her weaponry skills kicked butt! I truly enjoy a novel where a heroine doesn’t HAVE to fully depend on a male to “rescue” them. The chemistry was off the charts! I highly recommend this novel if you enjoy romantic suspense novels. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Breaking Away is book 3 in the Delta Force Strong series by Elle James and this book and series is a must read!
Up next is Kylie Adams, a war time journalist and Sean “Mac” McDaniel, a Delta Force operative, who have know each other in the past but went their separate ways only to reconnect in Afghanistan where Kylie kills a Taliban leader’s brother and the Taliban puts a bounty on her head. Can Mac keep her safe until she can get back to the states away from the Taliban, finally show her they belong together and start on the life they missed out on all those years ago...
