Broom with a View

Fern Calloway has a plan: expand her inherited Moonvale spell shop, Calloway's Curiosities, into a witchy bed-and-breakfast called the Hex & Hearth, and open by the spring equinox. The plan hits one immediate complication. The property already has a tenant.

Ambrose Fairweather has haunted the Hex & Hearth since 1947. He is charming, he is theatrical, and he cannot leave the property under any circumstance — not for any reason, not even to follow Fern down the street. His haunting runs on rules entirely separate from Calloway bloodline magic, which Fern discovers the hard way when her hex-residue training reads nothing at all. Contractor Nate Bricker, hired to handle the renovation, refuses to acknowledge Ambrose exists, turning every demolition decision into a battle between practical denial and undeniable haunting.

Mid-demolition, the crew uncovers a hidden room behind a wall untouched since Marigold's time, still holding her old belongings. Ambrose reacts visibly, moving a heavy crate to stop Nate from disturbing them, and for the first time Nate cannot explain it away. Pressed by Fern in the aftermath, Ambrose gives up a partial truth he has been holding for years: Marigold discovered something threatening tied to the Thistlewood family shortly before she vanished, and asked him to watch over the shop until she returned. He does not know where she went or whether she is alive.

Alongside the haunting, Nate — delivering supplies, stopping for pie — falls for Winnie Sutcliffe, whose directness he cannot resist. Their romance gets a full, satisfying arc and resolution within these pages, closing on the same note the B&B's grand opening does: not every haunting ends in heartbreak.

Broom with a View is the fourth book in the Moonvale series, a cozy witchy small-town paranormal romance full of found family, magical mishaps, and love stories that arrive on their own schedule.
