Encaptivating
Clever and very thoughtfully written. It's a gem—don't hesitate to read it. You can finish it in one afternoon.

A quick but confused read
Not one of Steinbeck’s best, but he still leaves you with new insights! It seems to be an experiment for him in writing a play. The 3 Acts are in different locations with no reasoning as to why the characters have moved from circus to farm to ship. But as always, a good story with well defined characters.
