Business as Usual

A professional assassin based in Geneva thoroughly enjoys his life of driving his victims into a deadly pinfold - until he himself becomes the next prey. He barely escapes death due to the combination of luck and his own accomplished skills, only to find out that the shady dealer who had been giving him orders, had this time placed the order on the murderer himself. Killing that treacherous bastard gives the assassin the long-awaited freedom and safety. Yet his life feels oddly void without the usual killing orders and deadly risk and that strange adrenaline sensation. He feels happy only when an old customer finds him and asks for a new assignment. Written in the first person, this short story offers an illuminating insight into the murky world of professional assassins, roaming Europe’s very heartland on the prowl for their next victims.
