Publisher Description
The sixth book in the USA TODAY bestselling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series featuring Gin Blanco, who by day owns a Tennessee BBQ joint, and by night is a tough female assassin known as the Spider.
I never thought I’d need a vacation from being an assassin….
My name is Gin Blanco, and I’m the assassin the Spider. All the Ashland’s lowlifes are gunning for me and trying to make a name for themselves by taking out the Spider. So I think it’s a good idea to get out of Ashland for a while until things cool down.
So I’m headed south to a swanky beach town, along with my baby sister, Bria, for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when an old friend of Bria’s is threatened by a powerful vampire with deadly elemental magic, it looks like I’ll have to dig my silverstone knives out of my suitcase after all. But this time, not even my own Ice and Stone power may be enough to save me from coming home in a pine box…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In the sixth Elemental Assassin urban fantasy (after Spider's Revenge), restaurateur Gin Blanco better known as the Spider, a ruthless magical assassin tries to bond with her long-lost sister on a road trip to Blue Marsh, an idyllic beach resort. The holiday is soon complicated by an unwanted reunion with Gin's former lover Donovan Caine, a police detective who hasn't quite figured out that "ex" really means "ex," and by a confrontation with an avaricious vampire who wants Gin's powers for his own. Estep (a PW reviewer) paints carefully within the lines, never burdening the reader with novelty. Her protagonist, much like other wise-cracking superpowered faux-noir urban fantasy characters, faces an antagonist who could likewise be drawn from any of a dozen series; the struggle that results is as familiar as it is predictable.

As usual, this series of Jennifer Estep's just grabs me by the throat and doesn't let go. I waited on pins and needles, downloaded it, and had read the entire book in a day. Love this series and the characters much better than in her past books. Can't wait till the next one.
