Easy read
The Byzantines is a fairly short and easy read that gives a synoptic view of the successor of the oft studied yet misunderstood Roman Empire. This book also gives a good review of the rise of Christianity. I am certainly not a scholar, but the accounts provide a consistent story line. I recommend.
