César Cascabel

César Cascabel is an adventure novel by French author Jules Verne, first published in 1890. It is the thirty-fifth book in Verne's Extraordinary Voyages series, and was originally published in English in two-volume form, with subtitles 'The Show on Ice' and 'The Travelling Circus'. The book tells the story of the Cascabels, a French family of circus artists who wish to return home after touring the United States for several years. However, after their savings are stolen and they cannot afford the ship fare, César Cascabel has no choice but to make the journey overland instead. The family's travels through Alaska, Siberia, and Central Russia lead them into adventure and danger, as well as an encounter with a Russian political fugitive.
