Caged prequel

As long as she can remember Kennedy always looked over her shoulder, watching for what would happen next. Her parents were strict, and even into young adult she remained vigilant for pain and suffering inflicted by her parents. She didn't know any other way to live. The only friend she'd ever had she kept secret from her parents, but they found out and killed him. When a colony of werelynx rescues her from captivity, she doesn't know whether to be suspicious of their motives or be grateful for their rescue.

Asher Monroe doesn't know what to think of the rescued werelynx, kiss or protect the colony from her. He's willing to give her the benefit of the doubt while keeping a close eye on her. But from the start she challenges his attempts to make her a friend. But if there is one thing he knows about himself, it's that he never lets obstacles get in his way of finding out the truth.
