Publisher Description
For the past year, Chloe St. John has been working as a K-9 cop with her German shepherd partner, Hank. After being dumped by her fiancé for another woman, Chloe has decided that Hank is just about the only male she likes. She's over the whole romance thing and focuses her attention on doing her job. Because a serious case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.
When US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter goes missing, he's ordered to kill the judge he's protecting and tell no one about his daughter's disappearance or she will die. Blake races against the clock to rescue his daughter while Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers. Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man, but thanks to her previous bad judgment, she wonders if she can trust him. And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?
Bestselling author Lynette Eason warns readers to buckle in for a fast and furious ride that will have their hearts pumping from the very start.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In Eason's well-crafted second installment of her Blue Justice series (after Oath of Honor), a family dedicated to law enforcement has crime strike too close to home. Chloe St. John and her K9 German Shepherd partner, Hank, stumble upon a drug and human trafficking ring. One of the victims offers clues to the disappearance of Chloe's niece, who vanished six months earlier while on a date. Chloe pulls in her fellow law enforcement siblings including Izzy and Ryan St. John from the previous book to pursue leads. Meanwhile, U.S. Marshall Blake MacCallum, a long-time friend of the St. John family, is offered an impossible choice: murder the judge he's protecting, or his captive daughter, Rachel, will be killed. Chloe and Blake quickly realize their cases connect. As the officers work together, their feelings for one another develop, but the action and suspense dominate this fast-paced drama. Eason's page-turner is energetic and tense until the end. Hints of faith and romance are scattered throughout, but this is best read as a novel of suspense.

A race against time...
If you love Blue Bloods, riveting suspense, and dealing with heavy current events with a faith element, you will love this series. This is the second book of Eason’s Blue Justice series and it was even better than the first, Oath of Honor!
Called to Protect is not a light read as it deals with the heavy topic of human trafficking. However the author takes us right to the edge of the harsh realities of human trafficking without bringing it over the edge. It was a thoughtful and insightful read. I loved the humanness of the St. John family...they are relatable in their faith struggles. I love seeing their interactions and love for family.
Chloe St John takes lead in this book with her German Shepherd K-9. She is my fav character so far. Strong and determined and yet, loving and devoted. I’m in awe of her and want to be her when I grow up :-) US Marshall Blake’s daughter is kidnapped and will die if he doesn’t kill a judge. They have to work together with their whole team to find her. As they uncover a human trafficking network, it’s a race against time to save his daughter, reduce others, and possibly find her cousin Penny.
Riveting, inspiring suspense with a focus on a tough topic that needs addressing. Just don’t read the first chapter before bed, like I did! You won’t be able to sleep until you read more.
Highly recommended. 5 Plus stars!

Call To Protect...real and thrilling
Lynette Eason is as always in this book thrilling...not to be read for the faint hearted. Yet she exposes the issue of human trafficking with sensitivity. You will not be able to put this down. I couldn’t. I recommend the book, the series and thus author.
