Callie's Second Chance for Love
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the first book of a series and it was a wonderful one. I easily got lost in the lives of Drs. Callie Parker and Robert Jameson. Callie is a small-town doctor that is giving so much to her patients that she has little time for her young son. Callie is a widow. She lost her doctor husband to cancer. Being busy at work was a great way to keep her mind busy and off the pain of losing her husband but now her young son is suffering from not having mommy around. Fortunately her Grannie is the mayor and hires another doctor to come to town and help out. Enter the handsome Robert Jameson. Robert has spent his entire career to be the oncologist at a large hospital in Atlanta. Unfortunately a mistake occurs and his career suffers. He doesn't get the promotion that he was aiming for. His mentor recommends time away to de-stress and re-coup in the small town setting.
Callie is afraid to let go of Stuart's memory. She also fears that Robert won't stick around. She is afraid to fall for Robert in case he does leave and not only break her heart but that of her son's, Ash. Robert on the other hand is leery of working in a small town. He was born and raised in a small town in Colorado. He swore when he left his family that he wouldn't return to work in the small-town practice. He is eager to return to his field. That is his dream job. He has no business in falling for his boss.
The sparks between this two is very evident. Robert is kind and caring to everyone. He treats Ash as a person not a kid and scores high marks with Callie. Will Robert be offered another position in his dream field? If he does, will he take it? Will Callie lower her defenses and let Robert in? Will she suffer another heart-break of losing another man?
This story just drew me in. I adored the main and secondary characters (esp. Grannie and Ash!). I highly recommend this second chance small-town romance. It is a sweet, clean read that anyone would enjoy.
