The Temples and Churches designed by Michael Lauba are monuments to God. But the internationally renowned architect chosen to build the World Theological University to all faiths is an atheist who believes in religion but not for himself.
The deaths of his wives, one Jewish, the other Catholic, leave him unconsoled. His two sons, one a Rabbi, the other soon to be a Priest, try to comfort him with prayer which he rejects. In leaving a farewell note to his sons, he wrote, Burn no candles for me; your light and flame shall be for me my life after death.
