Rafael Sabatini was an author of historical fiction, writer, who was named by critics “Alexander Dumas of contemporary fiction”. Especially his imagination was excited about the themes of sea, pirates and free corsairs adventures which present in many of his works.

The main protagonist is a physician and gentleman living in the 18th century England, Irishman Peter Blood, who is a good man bound to his duties.
