Publisher Description

A WW II EXPERIENCE OF AIR FORCE P.O.W.s IN GERMANY
Like many WWII veterans, Richard Matheis had not discussed the details of his WWII flying experiences with either family or friends. All wanted more details as everyone was intrigued about this amazing part of his life. Following a great deal of cajoling by children and grandchildren--little by little a timeline of his very personal memories began to seep out. Pictures are included.

Captured

This book is well written and gives incite into the experience of captured allied airmen during WWII. The author is a very lucky man to have survived the experience and to have enjoyed flying for so long. Unfortunately many of our parents and grandparents were not so fortunate during WWII. I am sure that during his captivity the author experienced a number of frightful times.

We should never forget these men and women who did so much for us at such great cost. The author survived, but lost years of his life in deplorable conditions.
