Simple and Proper Introduction
A definitive Bond title and perfect introduction to the character.
Not the greatest mystery but the writing will have you cringing at some parts and hoping/praying at other parts.
Bond is witty, sharp, and extremely lucky. With a cast of fellow agents and an international team working towards a common goal, the introduction to an even bigger bad opens the doors to the franchise as the Cold War is just beginning. This one actually feels like reading a Bond film.
Middling
3 Stars. Solid if middling start to this classic series. Bond is the top literary spy I guess. It was interesting albeit simple. The mystery, too, was simple. I read it after so long because I read Jack Carr saying it was a must read series. I’ll give the next one a try.
