Dee Kelly's follow-up novella, Catching Kate, told from Michael's POC, is well written! I typically groan when an author releases a book from an alternate POV. But, this was all new info, not just a rehash of book one. It's a must read!
Get Ready for Tugged Heart Strings
When I started Catching Kate I was truly afraid that my loyalties would be tested and I would go from #TeamDaniel to #TeamMichael. I had fallen in love with Daniel and Kate's relationship right away especially after witnessing the way Michael treated her when tragedy had struck his family. No matter what, that wasn't acceptable in my book. Anyways-- while I am still rooting for Kate to be with Daniel in the end I have grown to not hate Michael completely.
Dee's writing and way of telling a story gives us a much better insight into Mike's POV in Catching Kate. You get to follow him from when he first met Kate up until the point where everything came to a screeching halt in Breaking Kate. I am so glad that this was in the series so that I could get the whole picture before getting to everything else. <3
Will first love be forever love...?
Kate & Jess' happily ever after is rocked by the sudden appearance of Mike at Jake and April's engagement party. Your heart literally stops when Mike and Kate make eye contact for the first time in four years. As a reader I could feel that split second when their past, and bad decision making on Mike's part, comes crashing down around them. At the same time your heart is breaking for Daniel. The novella is from Mikes POV and takes you back to where Mike, Kate, and Jess meet for the first time and the life events, good and bad, that lead up to where this heart stopping moment takes place. You learn how three people who where so close could be torn apart by a family tragedy and when tragedy strikes miscommunication and blame takes shape instead of rational thinking. Mike and Kate's lifes were permenantly altered from paths they thought they were destined for. Michael makes his case and his bid for Kate's heart.
While I beleive we've all made our minds up about who Kate belongs with (haven't we??), I know I had to give Mike some sympathy after reading his story. But I am still #teamdaniel. I can't help it.
