Not to get clichè, but…
I go to a private Catholic school in California. We are managed by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, which is the Catholic authority in the area, as I have come to know it. For example and my curriculum, this happens to be required reading for my mandatory religion classes.
While my problems with this book partial come from an aversion to school, I have found that this book actively supports rampant capitalism and authoritarianism, while also promotion the idea of a Catholic theocracy. I understand that religion and politics shouldn’t mix, but using this kind of material draped in the robes of holiness, making it seem as though it is irrefutable, does not equip students or *anyone* who reads this with the critical thinking skills that are necessary for a meaningful life.
With all due respect to the parties involved with its writing and publication, this book should only be read if you have a desire to blindly follow The Rules and be rewarded for doing so. I do not recommend it.
