25 Years after Chernobyl disaster. A Photo Journey.

On April 26th 1986, a nuclear power plant reactor exploded in the Ukrainian city of Chernobyl, spreading deadly radiation for thousands of miles. This radiation was blamed for thousands of cancer related deaths and aliments in europe.

2011 marked the 25th anniversary of this catastrophe. The same year, Japan was hit with an 8.9 magnitude earthquake, causing tsunamis to flood which eventually caused the explosion of the reactors in the Fukashima nuclear power plant.

There was new found international attention to nuclear energy. It became a hot topic and increasingly controversial issue. The Chernobyl disaster and it's 25th anniversary was pushed into the limelight.

The images in this book show my journey to discover the beauty and destruction of Prypiat, the hardest hit city closest to the Chernobyl power plant.

I also visited people that lived in remote villages in the exclusion zone, a 30km perimeter around the power plant. It is illegal to live in this area. Yet the government hasn't enforce it for these people who are mostly, if not all, seniors who have lived here for many years before the nuclear plant exploded.

Living here is at your own risk.
