Publisher Description

Abstract: Approximately 10% of U.S. children are reported as being sexually abused each year. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which Texas non-public schools provided child sexual abuse prevention (CSAP) programs. Questionnaires were sent to all non-public K-schools (K-12) in Texas. Data were obtained from 177 schools. Frequencies and percentages were calculated for each survey question to determine the extent of CSAP programs. Program effectiveness also was assessed. Only 24% of the respondents reported using a student-based prevention program. Family involvement, CSAP training for faculty and staff, and program evaluation were minimal. Further research is needed. **********
