"Adeyemi has sparked magic once again." —The New York Times
After battling the impossible, Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orïsha. But the ritual was more powerful than they could’ve imagined, reigniting the powers of not only the maji, but of nobles with magic ancestry, too.
Now, Zélie struggles to unite the maji in an Orïsha where the enemy is just as powerful as they are. But when the monarchy and military unite to keep control of Orïsha, Zélie must fight to secure Amari's right to the throne and protect the new maji from the monarchy's wrath.
With civil war looming on the horizon, Zélie finds herself at a breaking point: she must discover a way to bring the kingdom together or watch as Orïsha tears itself apart.
Children of Virtue and Vengeance is the stunning sequel to Tomi Adeyemi's New York Times-bestselling debut Children of Blood and Bone, the first book in the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy.
Praise for Children of Virtue and Vengeance:
“Electrifying . . . With this second book Adeyemi brings a new maturity and depth to the series. Her characters are no longer underdogs on a hero’s journey to return magic―now they are leaders who are suffering from the consequences and trauma of their previous quest.” ―The New York Times
“Like its predecessor, Children of Virtue and Vengeance is fast-paced and unafraid to ask tough questions about the cyclical nature of oppression and the systems that enforce it.” ―TIME
“Relentless even beyond its finish, this is a sure-fire hit.” ―Booklist, starred review

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The sequel to Tomi Adeyemi’s dazzling word-of-mouth hit, Children of Blood and Bone, is a powerful parable about class, corruption, and violence. As the story opens, magic-wielding young rebels Zélie and Amari discover the unintended consequences of their victorious battle against the oppressive King Saran—they’ve awakened a powerful, potentially catastrophic evil. Thanks to Adeyemi’s electric, enchanting prose, we cared deeply about her characters and the war-torn magical land of Orisha. Children of Virtue and Vengeance is a strange, wondrous, and fast-moving fantasy that’s incredibly relevant to the real world.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This sequel to Children of Blood and Bone picks up three weeks after the clash that dispatched Z lie's father and brought loss to Or sha's royal family. Z lie hoped that restoring magic to Or sha would end the subjugation of its white-haired maji clans; regrettably, however, Z lie's ritual also triggered the latent abilities of nobles with maji ancestry, including Princess Amari and the tyrannical Queen Nehanda. These "t t ns" need no incantations to wield magic, rendering them unspeakably powerful and dangerously volatile. With a civil war brewing, Amari makes a bid for the crown, promising peace and equality; Nehanda enthrones another, however, and contrives to use an army of t t ns to eradicate the maji. Meanwhile, maji rebels dubbed the Iyika aim to assassinate Or sha's nobles and install Z lie as queen. Adeyemi's thrilling second Legacy of Or sha novel ups the stakes and expands the series' mythology while extolling unity and illustrating the futility of hatred and retribution. Shoehorned romance and manufactured friction between protagonists aside, Adeyemi delivers a vivid, visceral tale studded with action and capped with a literary gut-punch. Ages 14 up.)

you will not regret this AT ALL. but, be prepared in case of tears LOL
I could barely put this one down
This is an amazing read. No lulls in the story at all. I aimed for 30 minutes of reading a day, but often spent way more time than that engulfed in it. It took me a while to start this one after reading the last and now I’m sad that the next book is 8 months out.
Great Read!!
I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book!!
