Publisher Description
From Beth Harbison, the New York Times bestselling author of When in Doubt, Add Butter and Shoe Addicts Anonymous, comes Chose the Wrong Guy, Gave Him the Wrong Finger, a delightful new novel that will make you look at second chances in a whole new way.
Ten years ago, Quinn Barton was on her way to the altar to marry Burke Morrison, her high school sweetheart, when something derailed her. Rather, someone derailed her—the Best Man who at the last minute begged her to reconsider the marriage. He told her that Burke had been cheating on her. For a long time. Quinn, stunned, hurt, and confused, struggled with the obligation of fulfilling her guests' expectations—providing a wedding—and running for her life.
She chose running. With the Best Man. Who happened to be Burke's brother, Frank.
That relationship didn't work either. How could it, when Quinn had been engaged to, in love with, Frank's brother? Quinn opted for neither, and, instead, spends the next seventeen years working in her family's Middleburg, Virginia, bridal shop, Talk of the Gown, where she subconsciously does penance for the disservice she did to marriage.
But when the two men return to town for another wedding, old anger, hurt, and passion resurface. Just because you've traded the good guy for the bad guy for no guy doesn't mean you have to stay away from love for the rest of your life, does it? Told with Beth Harbison's flair for humor and heart, Chose the Wrong Guy will keep you guessing and make you believe in the possibilities of love.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Runaway bride Quinn Barton helps make other women's wedding dreams come true, but can't find her own happy ending in this smart, funny, and unapologetically romantic tale of finding love and the guts to embrace it. Harbison (When In Doubt, Add Butter) hits all the right notes with wounded Quinn, who runs a wedding gown business in the Virginia suburbs; Burke Morrison, the guy she left at the altar after his brother Frank told her about Burke's serial cheating; and Glenn, Quinn's gay pal, who 10 years after Quinn's wedding fiasco helps coax the shell-shocked seamstress out of her rut with a riotous "Go Commando Day." But Burke and Frank's grandmother Dottie is the one who finally forces Quinn to face her demons and move on, though Quinn, a self-described Cinderella, just can't seem to decide who her Prince Charming is. Harbison keeps the conflict interesting with a clever parade of brides-to-be. "Most people are smart enough to remember they ended it for a reason in the first place, but not us," admits one divorcee before remarrying her ex.
Customer Reviews
Wasn’t what you expected
Not a page turner to me. My opinion is the most interesting character is the old rich lady that’s remarrying a gold digger. Hahahahaha
Zero stars
I've spent days scanning through pages of boring writing about something that happened 10 years ago and someone can't get past. I don't even know if I can scan through to the end. I literally don't care what happens.
Not at all what I was expecting
This book was able a character who continuously complained instead of going out and doing something for herself! I had to skip pages and pages of two characters having the same conversation over and over. I was very disappointed with this book overall!
