Only after the death of her parents does Lisette learn that she was adopted and has a different birth mother. She moves to Paris and works at a seedy saloon to make ends meet, and there she is approached by an elegant aristocrat. He says he will rescue her from this cesspool. She is sure he just wants to seduce her, but she can't get this nice, kind man out of her mind. However, she has no idea that he’s just using her to find her mother!
