This New Year will bring widowed nurse Abigail Powell a fresh start in a different city. Excited about the chance to create an unforgettable Christmas for her young son in picturesque Silver Bells, Colorado, Abby has been hired to take care of her dear friend’s recuperating grandmother. But sprightly senior Winnie insists she doesn’t need looking after. What she does need is help decorating her historic mansion, Holiday House, for a seasonal town fundraiser. Abby warms to the festive task, but she’ll have to contend with her own personal Grinch: Winnie’s prickly grandson, Ethan Lancaster.
Ethan Lancaster is good at a lot of things. Relationships surely aren’t one of them. His ex-fiancée convinced Ethan he was incapable of love, and he believes her…up until the moment he impulsively kisses Abby. What is it about this vibrant woman and her sweet son that knocks his world off-kilter? He knows they’re leaving town after Christmas. He just didn’t expect they’d be taking a little of his heart with them. But as he and Abby work together on the magical Holiday House through the record cold weather, visions of a different future dance in his head…one filled with warmth, love and a new beginning for them both.

Christmas at Holiday House
Good story but too wordy in places. Could have been shorter but just as good.
A very good holiday read
On the day before Thanksgiving, Abby, a young widow, and her son Christopher are on their longest road trip ever. Driving through the town of Silver Bells she feels like they’re on a Hallmark movie set. Lucy, Abbys old college roommate whose family owns Lancaster Hotels, has asked Abby to take care of her grandmother Winnie. Winnie had a serious fall and needs home care to avoid going to a facility Lucy is overseas and Abby will take care of Winnie until Lucy returns in a few weeks. Abby has time to do this before she and Christopher move to Austin. Oh, but wait.....Lucy has a brother, Ethan, who has insisted Winnie go to a rehab facility. Ethan is in Silver Bells too. He was not happy when Lucy told him Abby was coming to help. Ethan is stern and unfriendly ....but oh so gorgeous. Ethan tells Winnie he had made arrangements for her to stay in a nice new facility to which she promptly tells him he can un arrange it. As CEO of the families hotel chains he is used to taking and being in control. However this time he is wrong. Clearly Winnie is in charge. Then there is Lucy and José., Ethans good friend who also works for Lancaster Hotels. José doesn’t want to be another fling. Lucy isn’t ready for a serious commitment. Lucy and Ethans parents had had a horrible marriage. Clearly this has shaped them and affects their relationships. I could give more details but I don’t want to give too much away. This book held my attention to the end. The characters are flawed but relatable and lovable.
