The book is amazingly….average. The writing is ok, if pedestrian, but my biggest issue was how hollow the storyline was. The main characters have known each other their whole lives and fall to passion one Christmas where she gets pregnant. Pretty standard trope, however [SPOILER ALERT] the reason she keeps the truth of the baby from him has absolutely no substance. I don’t know why that particular bit bothered me, but if you’re going to hide the existence of your child from its father, there better be some huge reason why. And why would you do it when you know he comes to town every year??

I really enjoyed the storyline 👍 What I REALLY loved was that I didn’t have to read 5 other books for one story!! I’m so sick of writers who copy E.L. James 😵💫 and just trying to make money without any regard to the readers…

A lot of gratuitous sexual lingo. It wasn’t necessary. The writer didn’t need to titillate. They just needed to write a good story. Sex scenes are fine to read, but a little class wouldn’t have gone awry. And then there are the underdeveloped characters, the two main characters come off as either weak, thoughtless, and dumb, or so completely self-absorbed it’s a wonder he knew anyone else even existed. You’re three quarters of the way through the story before anything even close to reasonably thoughtful and loving happens with attached accountability. Oooph! I stuck it out, but seriously, get some help with editing and a reading crew.
