Publisher Description
Beloved New York Times bestselling author and Queen of the Culinary Mystery Joanne Fluke delivers the next mouthwatering Hannah Swensen Holiday Mystery, as December turns Lake Eden, Minnesota, into the North Pole—and Hannah’s kitchen goes into overdrive to honor two Christmas promises: baking irresistible festive cupcakes and preventing an attempted murderer from succeeding the second time around!
While Hannah speeds through a lengthy holiday checklist, drama in town grows like Santa’s waistline on Christmas Eve. Her sister Andrea wants to stave off the blues by helping out at The Cookie Jar, Michelle’s love life is becoming complicated, Lisa needs Hannah’s advice, and Delores has a Christmas secret she’s not willing to share. But nothing dampens the holiday mood more than the chilling mystery surrounding the man found near death in an abandoned storefront two doors down from Hannah’s bakery . . .
The befuddled John Doe can’t recall a thing about himself—except for his unusual knowledge of restoring antique furniture. With a smattering of clues and barely enough time to frost Christmas cookies, Hannah must solve a deadly puzzle that could leave her dashing through the snow for her life!
Features Over a Dozen Cookie and Dessert Recipes from The Cookie Jar!

Recipes dominate bestseller Fluke's amiable 26th Hannah Swenson mystery (after Coconut Layer Cake Murder). Early one December morning, Hannah Swensen, owner of the Cookie Jar bakery in Lake Eden, Minn., is baking German chocolate cupcakes when she hears a knock at the door. Outside is a stranger asking for work. Hannah invites the man in, and over coffee the two discover a mutual love of German chocolate cake. The stranger reminisces about how his mother always used to give him an orange when she made him one for his birthday. Recipes follow for German chocolate cake and frosting. The man leaves after doing a few odd chores for Hannah, who later that day finds him lying unconscious in her mother's storage shed. The doctor who treats the man diagnoses that he has amnesia brought about by a blow to the head. After many more recipes and discussions of food, the stranger's fondness for oranges provides Hannah with a clue to his fate. Fluke's easygoing style compensates for the minimal sleuthing. Cozy fans with a sweet tooth will be more than satisfied.

I like Joanne Fluke’s books but i enjoyed them more when the recipes didn’t take over the books. It seems like there are more recipes then story lately… i used to enjoy the mysteries more, the characters were consistent and their stories built on each other… last night i tried to buy the next in the series for $1.99 it kept saying it was being updated? If that meant tripling the price then they sure updated to $7.99.. literally in one day! Sad
Fast read
Nice to read a happy love story, love the book. One day to read.
The Christmas cupcake murder
Delighted that there were no gory dead Preston pictures put in my mind. I love the surprise happy ending. Applaud, each person helping each other and their romantic tension of the two boys.
