Holly Martin, queen of wonderful Christmas stories, does it again!
Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky is the first book in author Holly Martin's A Town Called Christmas Series. Piper Montgomery has been traveling the world as a "mystery guest" for the past ten years. While the pay is low, all of her expenses are covered. She travels, sampling hotels and resorts around the world, and reviews the places she visits for The Tree of Life magazine.
Her final stop for the year is the Stardust Lake Hotel on tiny Juniper island, the fictional northernmost Shetland Island. Once that commitment is fulfilled, Piper is taking a six month sabbatical to figure out what to do with her life from that point on. Anxious to complete the task, Piper arrives a bit earlier than expected and is greeted by the owner of the newly opening resort. To her shock and dismay, the owner is her one time best friend and boyfriend, Gabe Whitaker. Torn apart by tragedy, lies, and misunderstandings twelve years earlier, Piper had seemingly been on the run since the day her world fell apart.
The chemistry is palpable, but trust on both sides is hard to come by. Can they reestablish their relationship and will Gabe ever be able to entrust his young daughter to Piper's care? And what about his close knit family, will they support their budding relationship? With the flurry of activity as they complete the preparations for the grand opening and the anticipated media members, including the mysteries Mr. Black, whose reviews have made for five star reports or resulted in hotel closings, emotions run high for all.
A lovely story about good people who have been through tough times and come back full circle. Are there really second chances, and will there be a second chance for Piper? Join these people in a beautiful winter wonderland under the northern lights for an inspiring holiday story. I very much enjoyed and recommend this book.
This is a fantastic read and has me ready for the magic of the holiday season. As a reviewer of hotels, Piper "Pip" Chesterfield is use to travel to glamorous locals and staying at some of the best and worst hotels around. When her next assignment takes her to Juniper Island and the newly opened Stardust Lake Hotel she expects and hopes for a quiet uneventful stay. What she never expected was to come face to face with Gabe Whitaker. Her first love and the man that broke her heart. Twelve years have passed but the pain still feels like it happened yesterday. Gabe is just as shocked by her arrival. Pip was the one woman he had given his heart to and she threw it in his face by disappearing without a word. He's wondered all these years why she left and now is his chance to get answers. Can the truth and the magic of the island help heal the relationship between these two? It's a fun journey and one you shouldn't miss! I highly recommend this one.
