Jonathan Leeman addresses the commonly asked (and often unanswered) question of, "Why should I join a church?" in a time when many are shunning the practice of organized religion. By offering a brief, straightforward explanation of what church membership is and why it's important, Leeman gives the local church its proper due and builds a case for committing to the local body. Church Membership is a useful tool for churches to distribute en masse to new and potential members of their congregation.
This volume is part of the 9Marks: Building Healthy Churches series. Look for upcoming, quick-read formats of the following marks of a healthy church: expositional preaching, biblical theology, the gospel, conversion, evangelism, church discipline, discipleship and growth, and church leadership.

Fresh Approach
Many Christian authors, Pastors and readers know that convent membership with your local body of Christ (Church) is not the same as your health club membership or membership at your country club. That said, Mr Leeman introduces to the analogy of embassies. Professing believers are citizens of the Kingdom of God and the blood bought promises of Christ Jesus. However we are scattered in countries and cities around the world. God ordained the local church to be the embassies in these foreign lands. These outposts are where we surrender and commit to other Christians to live out the “one another” commands and share the truth and love of the Gospel in our communities. Thank you for a concise proclamation for membership in the local body of Christ. M. Rusch
Outstanding perspective on Church membership!
This was such a great perspective of Church membership! From the beginning that outlines the authority of the Church and how that should change our view of membership from voluntary to required, to the New Testament walk-through that gives a quick narrative for membership, to the application for churches across times and cultures, I would recommend this for any pastor/elder, anyone involved in the church membership process, and probably/especially for each and every church member!
