Cinematic Memories

A memoir of living in New York City, Amsterdam and Los Angeles, as seen through the prism of going to the cinema. Geoffrey Thomas details his life moving to New York in 2013 through 2022, moving backwards and forwards through time as he recounts the people he saw films with, and the events that happened at cinemas like: IFC Center, Metrograph, Sunshine Cinema, Alpine Cinema and many more. Between the histories of movie theaters and film reviews and essays, there's a through line to the story of a young man finding his way through love and chaos, where the only refuge from life is at the movie theater.
